BMJ Learning - the training you need at the time you want

Have you taken a look at the hundreds of e-learning resources available from BMJ Learning?

Aimed at a broad range of healthcare staff BMJ e-learning resources are available as one of the following learning modules:
· Just in time – for fast evidence based updates
· Interactive case histories – test your knowledge with multiple choice questions
· Read, reflect and respond – offers a range of scenarios for you to comment on

All modules are peer reviewed to ensure quality.

You can set up your own personal learning plan to record the modules you take. Some modules lead to CME points and some enable you to print a certificate upon completion.

You will need your
Athens username and first time users will need to register with the site itself. Once you have completed the registration you will only need your Athens details in future.

BMJ Resources are available online from work or home. A leaflet explaining how to set up your learning plan is available from the Library and staff are happy to advise.

August New Books

Our latest new books list had just been published, and includes a wide selection of titles to suit varied interests.

Developing holistic care for long-term conditions by Margereson & Trenoweth will appeal to those working with chronic illness, while in response to a request earlier this year, we now have AIDS and tuberculosis : a deadly liaison by Kaufman & Walker.

Trainers will find Everything you ever needed to know about training by Thorne & Mackey invaluable.

We have a variety of new texts for clinicians, some strictly medical (eg the 5th edition of the Oxford Textbook of Medicine and Shakur's Essential clinical handbook for the Foundation Programme) and some in related fields (Autonomy, informed consent and medical law : a relational challenge by A Maclean).

New management titles include Implementing excellence in your health care organization by McSherry & Warr and Professionalism : the ABC for success by S Kay. And those in IT will appreciate the latest editions of Information systems essentials and Management information systems for the information age.

This is just a tantalising selection! Click on the list to see all the new titles, and check NewhamCat for our full stock.
