Critical Appraisal

Do you want to know what to look for when appraising an article? Then join one or both of our October sessions.

Quantitative Critical Appraisal
   Monday 8 October 2012
     10 -12pm 


Qualitative Critical Appraisal
     Friday 19 October 2012
       9.30 - 11.30am


The common aims of the sessions are:
-  Understanding the principles of quantitative or qualitative critical appraisal
- Awareness of critical appraisal tools
-  Practice appraising a research paper. The practice element for each session involves reading through a research paper (supplied in advance).

August New Books List

The Library's New Books List for August has just been published. There are many titles replacing old editions and there are brand new titles too. 

We have several titles in the area of Gastroenterology including Successful training in gastrointestinal endoscopy and Current diagnosis & treatment : gastroenterology, hepatology and endoscopy. There are also new texts for occupational therapists such as Conditions in occupational therapy : effect on occupational performance by B Atchison and new management titles include Management essentials for doctors by R Shaw.


We have purchased The NHS handbook 2012/13: the essential guide to the new NHS to help you navigate the changing shape of the NHS and the 4-volume Expert Consult Premium Edition of the Campbell-Walsh urology is now also available. The Library has also acquired the 5th edition of Assisted ventilation of the neonate and the latest edition of iRefer Making the best use of Clinical Radiology.

Explore our collection on NewhamCat and feel free to recommend books for us to add to our stock. If all you need is a novel, don't forget our Newham General Reads shelves.
